Test Automation / QA Engineer

We are looking for a Test Automation / QA Engineer for our client to join their product and engineering team, focusing on mobile apps, BLE connectivity, and an Azure cloud backend. You will help ensure high quality across the full chain — from app to device/ECU behavior and cloud services.

About the assignment

In this role, you will work hands-on with both manual and automated testing, build and maintain test automation, and support the team with clear QA reporting and structured defect handling. You will validate key user workflows, system integrations, and non-functional requirements such as performance, security, and privacy.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute test plans for mobile apps, BLE connectivity, and Azure cloud backend services.

  • Perform manual and automated functional testing of key workflows (registration, login, ICE contact setup, crash event handling, telemetry sync).

  • Implement integration tests, treating the ECU as a black box, to validate cross-system behavior.

  • Automate regression tests covering performance, scalability, and user experience.

  • Create and maintain automated API tests for cloud services using tools like Postman, PyTest, or RestAssured.

  • Develop automated BLE test scripts to validate GATT profiles, OTA firmware updates, and connection stability.

  • Configure CI/CD pipelines to run automated tests in Azure DevOps.

  • Implement reporting and dashboards to track test results and QA progress.

  • Conduct security and privacy testing, including encrypted BLE communication and GDPR-compliant data handling.

  • Document test cases, maintain defect logs, and contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes.

Required skills

  • Strong experience in QA / test engineering, including test automation

  • Experience testing mobile applications (iOS and/or Android)

  • Experience with API testing (e.g., Postman + automated API tests)

  • Good knowledge of Python (PyTest) and/or Java (RestAssured) (or similar automation stack)

  • Practical experience with CI/CD, preferably Azure DevOps

  • Good understanding of integration testing across systems

  • Ability to write clear test documentation and handle defects in a structured way

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experience with BLE testing, GATT, and OTA firmware update validation

  • Experience testing connected products involving an ECU/device (black-box testing)

  • Experience with security/privacy testing and GDPR-related validation

  • Experience with performance/scalability testing for cloud services
