About the Assignment

We are looking for a specialist who can build a Kubernetes platform for our client. The client is not looking for a developer who uses Kubernetes, but someone who can establish and develop the platform itself.

The client requires deep expertise for their Saga team in cloud, to effectively establish a data platform in the cloud based on Databricks on Azure, with a user interface that enables onboarding of real users and data.

Our client uses the following technologies in development, which are considered especially important:

• Azure technologies

• Azure Databricks

• Kubernetes

• Python

• Kafka

• Computational Governance

Responsibilities

The consultant will:

• Carry out targeted development and extensions of the data platform in collaboration with the team and architecture resources. Development must ensure modern, user-adapted solutions that comply with organizational guidelines on technology and compliance.

• Translate strategic decisions into practical technological solutions that support efficient operation and development of the data platform.

• Implement the platform architecture to support business goals and develop a platform that efficiently processes large volumes of data.

• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to the data platform, and support DataOps and analytics teams using the platform.

• Provide advice on platform architecture, ensuring alignment with overall principles and guidelines, and collaborate with team members and architects on solution design.

The consultant may also participate in other related activities as requested by the client.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in platform development

• Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud technologies, including building, delivering, and operating development and runtime environments

Evaluation Criteria

1. Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Kubernetes (High Importance)

• Strong understanding of Terraform as an IaC framework, with specific experience in Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS)

• Experience with Kubernetes operators, custom controllers (Kubebuilder/controller-runtime), and design of Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs) for domain-specific abstractions

• Advantage: Experience with Flux CD for GitOps-based delivery and Helm-based deployments

• Advantage: Understanding of Kubernetes RBAC, service accounts, integration with Entra ID, and policy engines such as Kyverno or OPA/Gatekeeper

2. DevOps, CI/CD and GitOps (High Importance)

• Experience with automation and enabling rapid, iterative development for both platform teams and platform users

• Knowledge of GitOps principles and tools for continuous delivery and operations

3. Azure Databricks and Data Flow (Important)

• Experience with Azure Databricks, including configuration and enabling user needs, Databricks Autoloader, Databricks apps, Unity Catalog, and streaming technologies such as EventHub and Kafka

• Practical experience with Python and PySpark for data processing and analytics

• Experience building data platforms as products, with focus on efficiency, autonomy, and support for technical users (data engineers/data analysts)

4. Monitoring, Operations and Security (Important)

• Experience ensuring robust operations, effective monitoring, and built-in IT security and privacy

• Advantage: Knowledge of Computational Governance and how it integrates into platform operations

5. Collaboration and User Support (Important)

• Ability to work independently and in teams, and assist colleagues with technical challenges

• Experience providing technical support for internal platform services and understanding how data engineers / data analysts work
