CAD Engineer – Automotive Development
We are looking for a Hardware Integration & Prototype Engineer to support development vehicles and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) environments within advanced automotive development.
In this role, you will work at the intersection of mechanical design, electrical integration, and hands-on prototyping. You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining hardware platforms used in vehicle development and testing.
The Mission
To build advanced autonomous driving solutions, strong hardware environments are essential. In this role, you will take ownership of the physical evolution and lifecycle of development vehicles and HIL test rigs.
We are looking for someone who combines CAD design expertise with practical engineering skills, and who is comfortable moving between digital design work and hands-on troubleshooting in a workshop environment.
Role Overview
This is a dual-discipline engineering role bridging digital design and physical execution.
You will take ownership of the lifecycle of testing assets, using CAD to develop mechanical solutions, applying electrical expertise to integrate sensors, and maintaining development vehicles and HIL rigs at peak performance.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Prototype: Use CAD tools to design custom mechanical solutions, sensor mounts, and housings for HIL components
Build & Integrate: Lead hands-on assembly of development vehicles, including installation of sensors, compute platforms, and complex wiring harnesses
System Diagnostics: Perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting for both vehicles and HIL rigs
Lifecycle Management: Ensure development vehicles and testing rigs are maintained and optimized for continuous testing
Collaboration: Work closely with software, testing, and systems engineers to enable seamless hardware and software integration
Requirements
Experience working as a CAD Engineer, Hardware Integration Engineer, or Mechanical Design Engineer
Strong experience with 3D CAD tools (e.g., CATIA, Creo, NX or similar)
Experience with mechanical design and prototyping
Understanding of electrical integration and wiring in hardware systems
Experience working with hardware prototypes, development vehicles, or test rigs
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems
Good communication skills in English
Nice-to-Have
Experience from the automotive industry
Experience working with sensors, compute platforms, or AD/ADAS systems
Experience with HIL environments or test rigs
Familiarity with PLM systems
